Clouds Retreat
It’s again with those energetic chaps, in a rainy climate, got a good rejuvenation on the grace of Kodai hills. Me, Jai, Subbu, Mak & Kee was planning this for a long time under the guidance of our onsite co-ordinator Chan :). This proposal got many iterations through number of mail threads, (after all, we were in IT) got confirmed on a good rainy day. Kodai @ this rainy season? Hoooo, you guys gone crazy! Don’t you have any good season? Logical questions from our dears & nears! Our mind voice with, “we will get good answers for you”! The real enjoyment we get it is when people say, we won’t get it. We got it! The day came Nov 6th, Rains were at its peak, flooded Chennai. My departure started pleasantly and ended in minutes of horror. It seemed like a climax for a Tamil film. My plan is to reach Koyam, Chennai at 7.30 PM and I started 6 from Chrom, with the dinner packed from Nalas. A terror on the traffic, and I got to reach the spot off late after 1 hour :(. Thank god, I boarded the bus as everyone was in my situation. Huu! Totally wet! Kee ll be joining us from B’lore and other four were in bus.
We started by 8.30 PM, I guess. Jai got to look slim, Mak too. Subbu with his same old elegant smile! His smile often remembers a child’s chuckle. After initial inquiries, they had their dinner with softy Appams that I got for them! I’m totally tired after a big struggle. A bit we discussed about our office goings, hikes, project moves. After, Yes lights off! And a nice shock, with a brand new authentic Tamil film, Guess! “Mayandi Kudumbathar”. Oops, but ok! No way to escape! Many blinking eyes, pasted on the television, convinced themselves. It’s not so bad, but a good village family drama. Mostly I’m not used to bus & travel sleeps, I simply hate it. I used to watch out the windows and enjoy the mild breeze n distant twinkles. I missed my window seat, as subbu occupied it:( ! Mak got caught hold with Jai’s stories, I’m not sure, and how many are mokkais (lol Jai). Even I got a mild treatment, from subbu’s light snoring! (Sorry Subbu:)) But it doesn’t disturb me, I was listening few music in my mobile (Chan, but he’s not a good chase for you). I still remember the night at house boat, Allepey, at when me n mak missed our sleep out of Chan’s big snores.
After few hard flashes, few tolls, few halts, it gradually reached dindigul. I missed to tell another passenger with us, it’s that big rain :) It’s approximately 5-6 morning, we are ready to elevate on the slopes, the air on the moisture, notified us, we are climbing the heights. Completely chill, I enjoyed the day break with the mesmerizing scenes, the mixture of clouds & trees in the long horizons. I asked Subbu to shift the seat and I tried to capture a few in my mobile through the windows. These hours are totally enjoyable, as we got the pure oxygen and after few hairpin bends, we reached the dreamland.
We landed near to our stay place, its Hilltop, a nice residence. The person in reception, invited with an unwanted English lectures, even we seemed to be Tamils. Our room is totally comfortable, especially an LCD television, it remembered me the last night movie. Huuuu! Now Kee’s entrance, he too reached Kodai from B’lore, with a scoop of ice creams. Chill place, chill climate, chill scoops (Adanga mattranunga). Here, I need to say about this guy, Kee, He’s a dynamic laugh maker, key for guffaws, gone crazy all the time. On his presence, 100% fun is guaranteed. Kee gave us a performance with towel, but a bit :), as we ran out of time. Our first day and first plan is to get ready for a walk around the lake. Everybody got ready. It’s time for a hot tea. Jai was explaining about his marriage process, Kee’s counter comments, gave us stomach pains. After a quick photo sessions, started from the room.
The climate was so cool, but not rainy. I’m very new to Kodai, and I really enjoyed each place. I’m totally excited when seeing the places, at its best. Our journey started from the lake view. Our walk, filled with capturing the beautiful view points. Mak & I was on that process. Others discussed about a different stories. Kodai was peaceful and less with people, as we were on off-season. It helped us a lot in enjoying the things with silence. Now the fun-filled skating, shoes with wheelers. Mak & Kee were key players. I just got it, but stagnant aside. I’m mostly not used to the risky sports. I captured few videos and one small boy with his father was rocking the show. Mak got too many hits & fall down mostly. We missed Kee’s fall. Its drizzled outside, when we ended the fun. There we had a big photo shoot with tea & snacks. Our walk continued for a while. Finally we reached the Coaker’s walk, where it got rainy. We purchased the eucalyptus oil, there the keeper, burnt our hanky’s (He struggled to prove his product’s purity). When we entered the coaker’s path, I must say, the scene was breath taking for me, as there were nothing to say there, as full of the view is completely hidden by clouds. It seemed to be the end of the world. That was also enjoyable. But people, we can see the whole madurai, palani & near by cities, from here. This statement, made me bit an upset. That’s ok! We are totally tired and reached the Coffee day, that’s Subbu’s treat, I hope! Yes! We ordered different items there. But it’s not up to the mark, we expected. Mak claimed about the quality to the shop keepers (Vadivel dialogue, ‘Ivlo kovakarana iruppanu theriyama pochee’ :O) Now its time to settle for a rest, so we marched only to our room.
It got us 4-5 Pm, I hope. Again ordered for Tea and after few hours, we ordered for food, and that’s the time, when the hotel people, got a quick watch about the 107 & 109 (our room numbers :D) Especially Kee’s non-stop accomplishments on the dishes, bit shocked them. The dishes are really good with fine taste. We saw the classic comedy movie, “Ullathai Allitha”. Here we had some chats, I didn’t remember the topics. I gone for a sleep by 10 PM, that’s all I know and I woke up by 6 AM morning. This is because of the continuous walk we had the before day. It might be some 4-5 hours of walking! Huuu!
Now this day plan is for a thrilling lake, for which we got some special permission, Kurinji temple (especially for me, as I wished to see.) and few get outs. So we arranged for a cab. The climate is totally foggy with heavy rains. The fog is heavy, like throwing white powder from the sky. It looked like the view, when we open the freezer in the refrigerator (Ennama think panran ya :D), but that’s true :D. We wished to have a walk on the fog, after a hot Tea. Yes! We had and it’s a wonderful experience.
(Ithukku mela mudiyala…. Ippove kanna katudhu……… I will continue sometime later :D)
